Measurement of Transverse Target-Spin Azimuthal Asymetries in Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering — •Zhenyu Ye — DESY, Notkestr. 85, 22607 Hamburg
We report the first observation of transverse target-spin azimuthal asymmetries in hard electroproduction of photons. The observed asymmetries are attributed to the interference between the Bethe-Heitler process and the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering process. The latter provides a direct access to Generalized Parton Distributions. The data was accumulated by the HERMES experiment at DESY, scattering the HERA 27.6 GeV positron beam on a transversely polarized hydrogen gas target.
