Measurement of the Beam Polarization at the ILC using Single-W Production) — •Filip Franco-Sollova1,2, Klaus Desch2, Rolf-Dieter Heuer1,2, and Roman Pöschl1 — 1DESY, Notkestrasse 85, 22603 Hamburg — 2Institut für Experimentalphysik, Universität Hamburg, Luruper Chaussee 149, 22761 Hamburg.
The use of beam polarization at the International Linear Collider will be
a powerful tool for high precision analyses, being crucial for the
determination of the helicity structure of the electroweak processes and
for disentangling different contributions. The magnitude of the beam
polarization will be measured using polarimeters. For certain analyses the
required degree of precision should be of the order of 0.5%. In order to
reach such an accuracy, an alternative method to measure the beam
polarization is considered.
This study explores the use of a physics process to determine the beam
polarization. It is based on the measurement of the rate and LR
asymmetry for single-W production in e+e− annihilation at
√s=500 GeV for the case of longitudinally polarized beams.
Detector simulation and background processes are included.
