TeV-Scale Physics Beyond the Supersymmetric Standard Model — •Thorsten Ohl — Universität Würzburg
Starting in 2007, the LHC will directly probe physics at the TeV scale. Despite the unchallenged status of the Standard Model as an effective theory up to 200 GeV, new physics is expected at higher scales. The talk will describe alternatives to the orthodoxy of TeV-scale supersymmetry that can be tested experimentally. Models with TeV-scale extra dimensions and little Higgs models provide solutions to the hierarchy problem of electroweak symmetry breaking in the standard model. Even more radical modifications of our picture of space-time, like noncommutative space-time coordinates, have been suggested by string theory. It will be shown how their parameter space can be probed at colliders.
