Prospects of Measuring F2 at High y and FL with the ZEUS Detector — •Daniel Kollár — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik, München, Germany
The ZEUS Collaboration is investigating the structure of the proton by studying deep inelastic scattering events at the HERA ep collider. The structure functions F2 and xF3 have been measured over a wide range of kinematic space and yield detailed information on the quark densities. The structure function FL is much more sensitive to the gluon density but has not yet been measured. Running at two (or more) different beam energies is necessary to realize such a measurement. Of particular importance is the ability to measure differential cross sections at the highest possible values of y (low electron energies).
The feasibility study of such measurements at high y with the ZEUS detector will be presented together with its implications on an FL measurement.
