Recently the HERMES and COMPASS-Collaborations published data on single spin asymmetries in deeply inelastic production of hadrons from transversely polarized targets. These data allow to access the so-called Collins and Sivers effects — cleanly separated from each other. Hence, these data provide first information for several novel distribution and fragmentation functions, which have been subject to considerable theoretical and phenomenological interest in the past: The transversity distribution h1(x), the Collins fragmentation function H1⊥(z) and the Sivers distribution function f1T⊥(x). Different analyses of these data are discussed, and various extractions of the Sivers and Collins functions are compared. The consistency of the HERMES and COMPASS results (from different targets) is demonstrated. Predictions for future experiments are made.
