Charm Baryon Studies at BABAR — •Wolfgang Mader — Technische Universitaet Dresden — The University of Iowa
We report on the analysis of charmed baryon production and decay. The data samples used for this analyses are taken with the BaBar detector at the asymmetric e+e− B factory PEP-II at SLAC. The samples consist of data taken at the Υ(4S) resonance (on-peak data) and data taken approximately 40 MeV below (off-peak data).
We study the charm baryon Ξc0 in its decay modes into Ξ−π+ and Ω−K+ using ∼ 116 fb−1 of data. We measure the ratio of branching fractions, the branching fraction product B(B→Ξc0 X)× B(Ξc0→ Ξ− π+) and the cross section product σ(e+e−→ cc→Ξc0 X)× B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+).
The Ωc0 charmed baryon is reconstructed in its decay modes into Ω−π+, Ω−π+π−π+, and Ξ− K−π+π+ using ∼ 230 fb−1 of data. We measure the ratio of branching fractions relative to the Ω−π+ mode.
For both charmed baryons we study the production mechanism by measuring their momentum spectra in the center-of-mass frame. By comparing on-peak and off-peak data, clear evidence for copious production of these charm baryons from B decays is found. In the case of the Ωc0, this measurement constitutes a first time observation of the process B→Ωc0 X.
