Gamma- Hadron separation using a semianalytical model to fit the camera image of the MAGIC Telescope — •Tobias Jogler, Thomas Hengstebeck, Nikolaj Pavel, Thomas Schweizer, Maxim Shayduk, and Michael Traut — HU Berlin
In gamma ray astronomy it is very important to separate the gamma rays from the much larger hadronic background. Since at lower energies around 100 GeV the standard analysis using the Hillas Parameters doesn’t provide a sufficient separation there is the need for better methods. I used a semianalytical model to fit the camera image of the MAGIC telescope and compare the results of this analysis with the Hillas Parameters. The studies where performed on Monte Carlo data as well as on data taken from the Crab Nebula.
