Measurements of the Lateral Distribution of the Muon component of Extensive Air Showers at 320 m.w.e. underground. — •Arif Mailov — Fachbereich Physik, Universität Siegen

The lateral distribution of cosmic muons measured in the CosmoALEPH experiment at a depth of 320 m.w.e. underground has been studied. The results are presented in the form of a decoherence curve.Coincidences are measured over distances up to 1 km which are sensitive to the chemical composition of primary cosmic rays. The new results, which are based on the full data set from 1995 to 2000, are compared with model predictions from CORSIKA.Our results indicate that the rate of muons is compatible with a light primary composition.
