Comparison between D0 data on W/Z + jet production and the PYTHIA and SHERPA event generators — •Henrik Nilsen1, Volker Büscher2, Harald Fox3, and Karl Jakobs41henrik.nilsen@physik.uni-freiburg.de — 2buescher@fnal.gov — 3fox@physik.uni-freiburg.de — 4karl.jakobs@uni-freiburg.de

During the last few years there has been a major development in how to describe emissions of QCD jets in Monte Carlo event generators. Traditionally, e.g. in the PYTHIA Monte Carlo program, a parton shower (PS) approach has been used to generate QCD (initial/final state) radiation. The Catani-Krauss-Kuhn-Webber (CKKW) algorithm, implemented in the event generator SHERPA, uses a PS for soft/colinear emissions combined with tree level matrix element computations for hard/well separated emissions.

Data collected by the D0 collaboration at the Tevatron ppbar collider have been used to perform a detailed comparison of the jet production in W-> ev and Z-> ee events with the PYTHIA and SHERPA Monte Carlo predictions. Results on jet rates, PT spectra and jet-jet properties are presented.
