Search for MSSM neutral Higgs bosons in the decay channel A/H→ µ+µ−/τ+τ− with the ATLAS detector — •Georgios Dedes, Nectarios Benekos, Sandra Horvat, Sergey Kotov, Hubert Kroha, and Susanne Mohrdieck - Möck — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik, München
The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) predicts the existence of five Higgs bosons (h, H, A and H±) whose properties are determined by two independent parameters: the ratio tanβ of the vacuum expectation values of the two Higgs doublets and the pseudoscalar Higgs boson mass mA. Motivated by the high lepton momentum resolution and identification efficiency of the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, we explore the discovery potential for A/H→ µ+µ− and A/H→ τ+τ− decays. Even though strongly enhanced compared to the Standard Model Higgs boson decays into two muons or tau leptons, these processes are hidden under large Z→ µ+µ−/τ+τ− and tt backgrounds. The detection of b-jets originating from the gg→ bbA/H production process allows for strong background rejection. We compare the results of the study of the sensitivity of the ATLAS detector for these processes with the fast and with the full simulation of the detector.
