Track Selection for the Alignment of the ATLAS Inner Detector — •Miguel Angel Olivo Gómez, Siegfried Bethke, Richard Nisius, Stefan Kluth, Jochen Schieck, Roland Härtel, and Tobias Göttfert — MPI für Physik, Föhringer Ring 6, 80805 München
The ATLAS detector will be one of the experiments located at the LHC accelerator at CERN. Within ATLAS, particle trajectories will be reconstructed using the Inner Detector. The alignment of the Inner Detector is crucial e.g. for the reconstruction of secondary vertices. The alignment with the highest precision will be achieved with a track based alignment approach. Quality studies of reconstructed tracks and their impact on the track based alignment algorithm will be presented. The efficiency of various selection criteria will be discussed.
