Phase-Ordering and Ageing Phenomena in q-State Potts Models with q=3 and 8 — •Eric Lorenz and Wolfhard Janke — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Leipzig, Augustusplatz 10/11, 04109 Leipzig, Germany
Dynamical properties of Potts models with q=3 and q=8 are studied during phase-ordering through numerical simulations with a nonconserved order parameter. The systems are quenched from a highly disordered state (T1=∞) into the ferromagnetic phase(T2≈1/2Tc) whereafter the dynamical self-similarity of phase-ordering shows up. Tied with this process is the phenomenon of ageing, i.e. the breaking of time-translational invariance. To reveal ageing in the considered systems, two-time quantities such as the autocorrelation A(t,s), autoresponse R(t,s) and spatiotemporal response R(t,s;r) are measured and compared with scaling functions predicted from local scale invariance.
