Ferromagnetic behavior was observed in Zn(Mn,Sn)O films below 250 K and in Zn(Mn,P)O films above 300 K, with a maximum magnetic moment of 0.045 µB per Mn ion at room temperature. The films have a Mn content around 5 at% and P content around 0.1 and 0.5 at% or Sn content around 0.05 at% and were grown by pulsed laser deposition on a-plane sapphire. The film composition was determined by Rutherford backscattering and particle induced X-ray emission. The presence of secondary phases was investigated by X-ray diffraction. We also investigated the effect of annealing at 800∘C in N2 atmosphere and we observed that after 2 hours annealing the films became paramagnetic at all temperatures and electrically insulating.
