The search for novel weakly coupled or molecular like magnets in the range of lone pair oxohalogenides based on Cu2+, Ni2+, and Mo2+ has been very fruitful in recent years. We give an overview on their structural, electronic and magnetic properties. Established magnetic structures have dimers, chains, tetrahedra, 5- and 13-spin centers. The latter are realized as guests in cages of high symmetry host structures.
