Dimerization effect on Luttinger liquid behavior — •Satoshi Ejima1, Satoshi Nishimoto2, and Florian Gebhard1 — 1Fachbereich Physik, Philipps-Universität Marburg, D-35032 Marburg, Germany — 2Max-Planck-Institut für Physik Complexer Systeme, Nöthnitzer Str. 38, D-01187 Dresden, Germany
A number of organic conductors exhibit a variety of electronic phases and some of them show a Luttinger liquid behavior due to strong one-dimensionality. For instance, a description by a Luttinger liquid seems to be more appropriate to analize experimental results (optical conductivity, photoemission spectroscopy, the dc resistivity, etc.) in (TMTCF)2X. However, theoretical investigation with one-dimensional extended Hubbard model at quarter filling has been more puzzling.
Very slow carrier density fluctuations have been observed by recent NMR experiments. A key factor for such fluctuations can be dimerization along the TMTCF stacks. We study a dimerized Hubbard chain for various band filling with density-matrix renormalization group method. We suggest that the Luttinger liquid properties are drastically affected by the dimerization especially around quarter filling.
