How superstructure free is superstructure free Pb-BSCCO ? — •L. Dudy, B. Müller, B. Ziegler, A. Krapf, H. Dwelk, R.-P. Blum, C. Janowitz, and R. Manzke — Institut für Physik, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Newtonstraße 15, 12489 Berlin
Pb- substituted BSCCO single crystals have been investigated by LEED and variable temperature VT- STM. While LEED pictures showed no superstructure spots in the range 30eV ≤ Ekin ≤ 320 eV, a closer look by VT- STM revealed that an ordered, alternating topographical formation of nano- domains with and without superstructure occurred. Independent of these geometrical nano- domains a long range ordering in the local density of states detected by corrugation analysis was also observed.
