In a conventional reaction microscope an electric extraction field E and a guiding magnetic field B, both nearly parallel to the projectile beam axis, image slow electrons and recoil ions from the target zone onto large 2D position sensitive detectors thus facilitating kinematically complete investigations of ion-atom collisions. We have conducted simulation calculations for a new type of magnetic toroidal sector analyzer for the electron branch of the reaction microscope. This configuration conserves the symmetry almost entirely but has the advantage to remove the large 2D position sensitive electron detectors from the immediate vicinity of the coasting beams in a storage ring environment. Preliminary results of the calculations will be presented.
