We present an improved setup for femtosecond laser pulse shaping. It is based on a 2 x 640-pixel LC-SLM (Liquid Crystal-Spatial Light Modulator) providing a very high spectral resolution. Compactness, high reproducibility and high flexibility are the key features of this device. The constructed pulse shaper allows either spectral phase and polarization control or spectral phase and amplitude modulation independent of each other. By the use of VPHGs (Volume Phase Holographic Gratings) the polarization dependent losses normally present in the polarization shaping mode of similar devices could be minimized. For testing the pulse shaper experimentally various phase functions were applied to the liquid crystal-spatial mask and characterized using SI (Spectral Interferometry) and GRENOUILLE (Grating Eliminated No-nonsense Observation of Ultrafast Incident Laser Light E-fields). First results are presented.
