In a supercontinuum generation setup we have simultaneously pumped two home-made, tapered optical fibers with 100 fs pulses from a Ti:Sa laser. A filtered spectral component of the white light generated in the first fiber has been synchronized with the subsequent pump pulse in the second fiber to stimulate cascaded four-wave mixing processes. The spectral evolution and interaction of signal and idler with the pump wavelength is investigated in detail with increasing pump power. Furthermore the four-wave mixing can lead to modified initial conditions for the evolution of the supercontinuum and provides the initiation for an altered shape of the spectral fiber output when soliton dynamics are involved.
