Light induced birefringence, electromagnetically induced transparency and absorption in the caesium D2 line — •Luca Spani Molella1,2, Rolf-Hermann Rinkleff1,2, and Karsten Danzmann1,2 — 1Max-Planck-Institut für Gravitationsphysik, Hannover — 2Institut für Gravitationsphysik, Universität Hannover
The research presents several different measurements of absorption and dispersion taken within the hyperfine components of the caesium D2 line. The coupling laser counterpart to electromagnetically induced absorption (i.e. absorption within transparency on the F=4→ F′=5 line) is presented together with its dispersive feature [1] and compared with the electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) appearing on the other closed system (F=3→ F′=2). Further measurements present coupling and probe absorption profiles when the coupling laser drives the F=3→ F′=4 transition and the prove is scanned between the F=4→ F′=3 and the F=4→ F′=5 transitions. In this case EIT and light induced birefringence could be detected. All measurements were performed with a heterodyne interferometer in a caesium beam.
