Modeled Cosmic Ray Spectra during the Maunder Minimum — •Klaus Scherer1, Horst Fichtner1, and Stefan Ferreira21Institut für Theoretische Physik, Lehrstuhl IV: Weltraum- und Astrophysik, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, D-44780 Bochum, Germany — 2Unit for Space Physics, School of Physics, North-West University, 2520 Potchefstroom, South Africa

The Maunder Minimum is originally defined by the absence of sunspots during the time between 1640 and 1710. Recent observations and modeling also request that during that period the cosmic ray flux was diminished, as can be seen in the production rate of cosmogenic isotopes.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to reconstruct the the cosmic ray flux using the sunspot numbers as proxy, because the dynamics of the heliosphere behave in a very complicated way. On the other hand it is possible with the BoPo-code to model the cosmic ray fluxes during the Maunder Minium using the solar wind data available for decades. We assume that during the Maunder Minimum similar conditions were found as during the solar minimum conditions as observed on Ulysses. We will present first results for the galactic cosmic ray flux and discuss the acceleration process for the anomalous component.
