There are 157 educational inst. for bachelor, ca. 5 times as many as since the educational revolution in 1994 in Taiwan. They have been classified into 1. Inst. of Technology, 2. Technical Univ. of Applied Sciences, and 3. Traditional Univ. No.1 and 2 contribute Techn. Eduction; No.3 academic orientation. No.1 and 2 accept students from an occupational junior high school (jhs) and give 5-year education, those from an occup. senior high school (shs) for 4 years, comparing with a trad. Univ, where only pupils from a shs are accepted and 4-year education is given. An extra two-year-study in No.1 and 2 has been constructed, for those students who are graduated from the 5-year-study, and still intend to pursue their Bachelor. The success quote after the unified entrance exam for one of the trad. Univ. is ca. 120%; that for one Inst. of Technol., or Techn. Univ. of Appl. Sci., is ca. 250%. Because of deficit of students, many are accepted, who need only to pay the fees. The teacher, who gives student score over 90%, even 100% will be checked as good; on the contrary as bad, even will be threaten or accused. Such disastrous development has already caused disqualified personnel and scientists in every branch.
