Strategies for electron pair reconstruction in CBM — •Tatyana Galatyuk — GSI, Darmstadt

Lepton pairs emitted out of the hot and dense phase as produced in heavy ion collisions are an established probe to study the electromagnetic structure of hadrons under extreme conditions. The reconstruction of low-mass vector mesons by means of their electromagentic decay is one of the experimental goals of the planned Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment at the future facility FAIR. We present our strategies to reduce the combinatorial background in electron pair measurements in central Au+Au collision at 25 AGeV with the CBM experimental setup, which does not provide electron identification in front of the magnetic field in the current concept.
