Symmetry energy of fragments produced in multifragmentation and properties of stellar matter in supernova II explosions — •Alexander Botvina1,2 and Wolfgang Trautmann1 — 1GSI, Darmstadt, Germany — 2INR, Moscow, Russia
In nuclear multifragmentation reactions one can reach thermodynamical conditions of nuclear matter which are expected in supernova type II explosions. Recent ALADIN experiments at GSI have allowed to extract the symmetry energy of hot nuclei produced at subnuclear densities. With the statistical multifragmentation model generalized for astrophysical conditions we demonstrate that sizes and neutron richness of nuclei produced in supernova environment depend essentially on this symmetry energy. We also investigate the equation of state (EOS) of stellar matter, and rates of the weak processes (electron and neutrino reactions), under the new symmetry energy constraints.
