We present a new method of determening characteristic paramenters of a Bose-Einstein condensate via spectroscopy of the electronic excitation levels of one of the condensate's atoms. We calculated the energy levels of a Rydberg atom embedded in a Bose-Einstein condensate for different trapping potentials. These energy levels depend on characteristic parameters of the Bose-Einstein condensate. Therefore one can gain information about the Bose-Einstein condensate by determening the electronic excitation levels of the Rydberg atom via spectroscopy.
