Fluctuations of the ionization cross section for non-hydrogenic Rydberg atoms in crossed electric and magnetic fields are considered in a regime where the classical dynamics is dominated by chaotic scattering and the quantum mechanical regime shows strongly overlapping resonances. Classical decay rates are computed by direct Monte-Carlo methods as well as transition state theory, and compared with numerically exact quantum simulations.
