Recent Development of the Soft X-Ray Diagnostic System in ASDEX Upgrade — •Anja Mueck, Asher Flaws, Anja Gude, and Valentin Igochine — Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik, Boltzmannstr. 2, 85748 Garching

In the magnetic fusion device ASDEX Upgrade, a new diagnostic system to measure the Soft X-Ray radiation was installed. Three smaller pinhole cameras are routinely taking data, three more cameras are currently installed. The cameras are equipped with semi-conductor diodes and 75 µm Beryllium filters, cutting energies below ∼ 1 keV. The data acquisition system was upgraded from 500 kHz to 2 MHz, allowing the detection of fast magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) modes. New filter developments, allowing observation above ∼ 500 eV, will be presented. Applications of the SXR measurements will be shown, like the experimental determination of the plasma center, due to measurements at several poloidal positions and the same toroidal location, and the tomographic reconstruction of the SXR data in the presence of MHD modes.
