Measurement of the reaction dd→ α K+K− with ANKE/COSY — •Xiauhua Yuan for the ANKE collaboration — IMP, Lanzhou, China — IKP, FZ-Jülich
Precise knowledge of the a0(980) and f0(980) coupling constants to kaons would allow one to determine the KK content of the a0/f0. However, the values for ga0KK and gf0KK are still poorly known.
The isospin-violating (IV) a0/f0 mixing amplitude is in leading order proportional to the product of ga0KK and gf0KK. Since the a0 and the f0 are rather narrow overlapping resonances, a0-f0 mixing should give the dominant contribution to the IV effect via the reaction chain dd→ α f0(I=0) → α a00(I=1) → α (π0η). Any observation of π0η production in the dd→ α X reaction would be a direct indication of IV.
An experiment on the reaction dd→ α (π0η) is under preparation for WASA. As a first step, a measurement of the dd→ α f0→ α K+K− cross section has been performed with ANKE in spring 2006. An upper limit of 100 dd→ α K+K− events has been obtained from a first data analysis. The present status of the analysis will be presented.
