Gamma-ray emission from the vicinity of supermassive black holes with HESS — •Giovanna Pedaletti and Stefan Wagner for the H.E.S.S. collaboration — 1 Landessternwarte, Koenigstuhl, D 69117 Heidelberg, Germany

The present TeV experiments have detected VHE gamma-rays from > 12 AGN. In several cases the emission changes very rapidly, with doubling time-scales comparable to or smaller than the light-crossing time for the gravitational radius of the supermassive Black Hole associated with the corresponding AGN. Other discoveries also suggest that quiescent emission may be associated with the vicinity of the Black Hole. Both point towards different sites and emission mechanisms than those traditionally associated with jets in Blazar-type AGN. A possible alternative scenario assumes the \gamma-ray emission to be associated with the spinning black hole rather than the jet. I'll discuss some aspects of these models and compare them to the most recent HESS gamma-ray data.
