Beauty photoproduction measured using Micro Vertex Detector information in dijets events in ep collisions at HERA — •Ana Yagues Molina — Humboldt Universitaet zu Berlin

The production of b quarks has been measured in dijet events in photoproduction (Q^2 <1 GeV^2) with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 38 pb-1. In an exploratory analysis, the ZEUS micro-vertex detector (MVD) is used to determine the beauty fraction from measurements of the secondary vertex position with respect to the primary vertex. The heavy mass of the beauty quark and its long lifetime relative to light quarks is exploited to separate beauty signal from background. The beauty fraction is statistically extracted using decay length and invariant mass distributions. Cross sections are measured and compared to those measured previously in the semileptonic channel.
