Analysis of inclined air showers observed with the KASCADE-Grande experiment — •juan carlos arteaga-velázquez for the KASCADE-Grande collaboration — Institut für Kernphysik, Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, 76021 Karlsruhe, Germany

KASCADE-Grande is a ground air-shower experiment designed to study the energy region of 1016−1018 eV of the primary cosmic ray spectrum. Analysis of the KASCADE-Grande data for inclined showers (that is, showers with zenith angles above 40) has started recently. The study of inclined showers offers a good opportunity to both study the penetrating component of the shower and increase the statistics of the experiment. In addition, this kind of analysis can be also used as a tool to explore from another facet the validity of the Monte Carlo models used to describe the data.

In this work, we present some results from a preliminary analysis of the experimental data of inclined showers from KASCADE-Grande. In particular, we focus on the study of the muon content in such events and the reconstruction of the muon size spectrum. Improvements in the reconstruction of the angular direction of inclined showers in KASCADE- Grande are also reported.
