High Mass X-ray Binaries as neutrino candidate sources for IceCube — •Yolanda Sestayo for the IceCube collaboration — Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik, Saupfercheckweg 1, 69117 Heidelberg
Some stellar binaries are believed to be sites of particle acceleration. The particles considered here can be injected by jets or pulsar winds. In systems with a high mass stellar companion the accelerated particles are exposed to a dense matter field, serving as a target for neutrino production. We discuss here the most promising neutrino candidate sources from the classified high mass X-ray binaries. We focus on the sources in the northern hemisphere in order to be detectable with the IceCube neutrino telescope.
