The minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model predicts five Higgs bosons (h, H, A and H±) whose properties are determined by two independent parameters: the ratio of the of the vacuum expectation values of the two Higgs doublets (tanβ) and the pseudoscalar Higgs boson mass (mA). We explore the discovery potential for A/H → τ+ τ− and A/H → µ+ µ− decays in the ATLAS detector at LHC. The two decay modes are governed by the same couplings, but the branching ratios scale as (mτ/mµ)2. Thus the Higgs boson decays to τ+ τ− offer the highest discovery potential, while decays to µ+ µ− allow for an accurate determination of the Higgs mass and the decay width due to the high muon momentum resolution. The aim of the analysis is to discriminate between the signal coming from the gg → bbA/H production proccess and the large background contributions from tt, Z + jets and W±+jets processes by using fast and full simulation of the ATLAS detector.
