The production of jets in diffractive deep inelastic scattering has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA. The dijet cross section for such processes has been measured for virtualities of the exchanged boson in the range 5<Q2<100 GeV2 and in the photon-proton centre of mass energy 100<W<250 GeV. The jets were identified using a k⊥ algorithm in the γ*p frame. All jets identified in each event were required to satisfy E*T,jet>4 GeV while the jet with the highest transverse energy satisfied E*T,jet1>5 GeV as measured in the γ*p frame. All jets were required to be in the pseudorapidity range −3.5<jet<0.0 in the γ*p frame. Diffractive dijet production in deep inelastic scattering is sensitive to the partonic structure of the diffractive exchange between the proton and the virtual photon and can be used to test the theorem of diffractive factorisation. The single differential cross sections were compared to the predictions from leading-logarithm Monte Carlo models and next-to-leading-order QCD calculations based on various recent diffractive parton densities extracted from inclusive diffractive deep inelastic scattering data. The double differential cross sections are also presented and can be an important input for more refined fits to the diffractive parton densities.
