The ATLAS Production System — •john kennedy — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München

As part of its buildup to LHC data taking the ATLAS experiment has undertaken a series of Data Challenges in which large amounts of Monte-Carlo data were centrally produced via the Grid.

During 2006 this central Monte-Carlo production has operated in a continuous mode providing data for the ATLAS physics community and enabling tests of the atlas computing model.

This talk presents an overview of the ATLAS MC production with special attention being paid to the German Tier-1 center at GridKa and the associated Tier-2's. In addition to a description of the throughput and efficiency of the system a summary of the observed errors is presented and the strengths and weaknesses of the system are discussed.
