Among the simplest types of spin kinetics is the voter model: In each update a pair (i,j) of neighboring sites is chosen and site i adopts the state of site j. Here we consider a version of the model where one of the lattice bonds is antiferromagetic and thus transmits the reverse spin state. Due to the lack of absorbing configurations the dynamics is vastly different from the original model. The density of interfaces shows a bimodal distribution, i.e. the system spends most of the time in strongly ordered and strongly disordered configurations while the time for switching between the two situations is short. The time-averaged density of interfaces decays algebraically with distance from the lattice defect, with an exponent ≈ 1/3 in dimension d=2. These numerical observations are in sharp contrast to the results for the Ising model on the same kind of perturbed lattice.
