Local moment approach as an impurity solver of multi-orbital dynamical mean-field theory for correlated electronsAnna Kauch1 and •Krzysztof Byczuk2,11Institute of Theoretical Physics, Warsaw University, ul. A modified local moment approach is developed, and is applied as an impurity solver of the dynamical mean-field equations for the multiorbital Hubbard model. Assuming the existence of local moments their values are determined through a variational principle by minimizing the corresponding ground state energy. The method is applied to study the Mott metal-insulator transition in the multi-orbital Hubbard model.
