Electronics based on single crystal diamond provide advantages in many applications, for instance as high energy particle detectors. For all applications the metallization is a decesive step. Besides other metals, chromium and aluminium are often used as electrode materials. Hence we investigate the growth of chromium and aluminium on diamond by means of infrared spectroscopy in order to derive information about the conductivity of the film in a non-contact way. Furthermore, the advantages of the two different metals regarding detector applications will be discussed.
