The transition-metal dichalcogenide 1T-TiSe2 has attracted considerable attention in the recent past due to a structural phase transition at T≈ 200 K accompanied by the formation of a charge density wave (CDW) state. In a two-photon photoemission (2PPE) study we investigated the electron excitation spectra of these two phases in the vicinity of the Γ point of the Brillouin zone and their modification due to the adsorption and intercalation of different alkali species. We are able to identify a characteristic excitation band as well as phase- and intercalation specific modifications in the vicinity of the Fermi edge. Our experiments are furthermore supported by time-resolved 2PPE measurements addressing the ultrafast decay dynamics of the electron excitations. Our results will be discussed under consideration of corresponding results from past photoemission and inverse photoemission studies.
