Status of the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center — •Malte Ellerbrock, Oliver Jäkel, Peter Heeg, Benjamin Ackermann, and Marcus Winter — Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center, Heidelberg, Germany
The Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center will start clinical operation in spring 2008. Two horizontal beam lines and one isocentric ion gantry will allow for treating patients with ions ranging from protons to oxygen. While the building construction has been completed and beam is already supplied to the horizontal beam lines, currently the raster scanning system is implemented and the beam delivery system is commissioned. The status of the facility will be presented including current medical physics aspects.
