Fission Half-Lifes of Superheavy Elements in a Microscopic-Collective Model — •Nils Schindzielorz, Peter Klüpfel, and Paul-Gerhard Reinhard — Institut für Theoretische Physik II, Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg
Spontaneous fission is one of the dominant decay modes of
superheavy elements. A first indication for the stability of
those elements is given by the barrier heights of the Born-Oppenheimer
surface along the axially symmetric shapes which is regarded as the
fission path. To obtain this surface the
Skyrme-Hartree-Fock (SHF)
model is uses which gives a self-consistent description of the nucleus with
shell-effects.
A more sophisticated model of the fission process including
dynamic effects is obtained by combination of the WKB-Method and the Generator
Coordinate Method (GCM) that allows a microscopic description of the
collective phenomenon fission.
The ingredients of the WKB-Method to calculate half-lifes – namely the potential energy
surface and the effective mass – are obtained from
SHF calculations including the dynamical
response of the mean-field.
We compare our results with experimental fission half-lifes of superheavy
elements. The systematics for isotopes in the 104<Z<130, 142<N<190
region is presented. For selected isotopes the influence of different Skyrme
forces on fission half-lifes is discussed.
