The shear viscosity in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model — •Klaus Heckmann, Michael Buballa, and Jochen Wambach — Institut für Kernphysik, TU Darmstadt

Hydrodynamic simulations of heavy-ion experiments performed at RHIC suggest that strongly interacting matter close to the transition to the quark-gluon-plasma behaves like an ideal fluid with a very small shear viscosity. To investigate this behavior, we use the two-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model at finite temperatures and densities. We calculate the shear viscosity in this model using the Kubo formula. Since the usual mean-field treatment yields trivial results, we extend the approximation scheme to next-to-leading order in 1/Nc. We calculate the shear viscosity in different regions of the QCD phase diagram and discuss its dependency on temperature and chemical potential. Hereby we focus on regions comparable to RHIC experiments and on the neighborhood of the critical endpoint of the QCD phase diagram.
