This paper describes a model developed to investigate the influence of plasma response on resonant magnetic field perturbations (RMP) in the TEXTOR tokamak during operation of the dynamic ergodic divertor (DED). Of particular interest are the changes of the magnetic field topology due to externally applied magnetic perturbations and by tearing mode instabilities. A standard method to calculate this topology is the linear superposition of the equilibium field with the perturbation field. However, internal currents in the plasma can lead to a significant screening of the perturbation field. The aim of this work is to take these effects into account. We compute numerically the magnetic field by solving a simplified model developed on the basis of the fluid equations, namely a MHD Two Fluid, Three Field Model (fields: magnetic potential, plasma density and vorticity). The solution of such a system of partial differential equations has been calculated by the PDE2D code (finite element solver). We present a comparison of the magnetic field topology calculated with and without plasma response.
