With laser plasma accelerators it is possible to create electric fields which exceed the accelerating fields of conventional accelerators by five orders of magnitude. Over the past years, laser driven plasmas have therefore become a promising tool for particle acceleration on a μm scale. However laser plasma accelerators can not yet compete with conventional accelerators with respect to beam monochromacy, maximum achievable energy and shot to shot stability. In order to improve the acceleration process and achieve a higher laser-to-particle energy conversion efficiency, a tool for time-resolved probing of the plasma is required. On this poster we present a technique using optical interferometry and a bended thin metal foil for the time-resolved study of laser plasma acceleration processes. This technique provides information about the electron density distribution of the plasma, its temporal evolution and hence insights about the electron temperature, the accelerating fields and the laser-to-particle energy conversion efficiency.
