Injection experiments for a magnetic high current ion storage ring — •Ninad Joshi — IAP, Max-von-Laue str. 1, 60438 Frankfurt am Main, Deutschland.

The injection experiment with a special magnetic field configuration into ion storage ring is under preparation. The objective is to mimic the senario of a complete storage ring with toroidal magnetic field. The system will be optimized for injection of 10 keV proton beams into two toroidal segments with a maximum field of 0.6T. The experimental setup also provides the opportunities to study the beam dynamics, space charge issues, and two beam interaction in toroidal magnetic fields. Special attention is given to the injection coil geometry and its coupling onto the ring field. Finally, a E x B - drift will additionally be investigated to get the injected beam into the transversal ring acceptance.
