The differential scattering cross section for heavy flavor production in polarized deeply inelastic scattering is calculated to O(αs2) and beyond for the structure functions g1(x,Q2) and g2(x,Q2) in the kinematic region Q2 ≫ m2. The massive operator matrix elements are calculated using the light–cone expansion in Mellin space up to the O(є) terms, which contribute to the renormalization of the 3–loop terms. The O(αs2) results are compared with results in the literature for the structure function g1(x,Q2).
