Analytic approaches to parton showers and matching conditions — •Simon Plätzer — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Karlsruhe

I present an analytic treatment of a large class of parton shower algorithms. Expressions for evolution equations and generating functionals are obtained from a probabilistic point of view, thus being formulated closely to implementations employing a Monte Carlo method. The formalism is entirely based on four-momenta. As an example, dipole cascades are analyzed and the matching to fixed order QCD, in particular next-to-leading order, matrix elements is discussed.
