Sum Rules for processes involving the Λb — •Jürgen Rohrwild — Universität Regensburg, Regensburg, Germany
Once the Large Hadron Collider is operating, one of the first experiments to yield promissing data is probably LHCb. This is primarily due to the fact that the experimental setup does not require the full LHC luminosity to produce an abundance of data. Among other “beautiful” challenges, the study of the Λb will be one of the main tasks. Especially, a precise measurement of some specific decay modes might reveal new physics effects.
To this end it is necessary to understand the standard model predictions for the relevant observables. Unfortunately, our knowledge of the Λ transition matrix elements is currently still very limited.
In this talk we will examine the possibility of extending the usual QCD and Light-Cone sum rule approach to heavy Λ baryons, most notably the Λb. Depending on the kinematics a different set of techniques has to be employed giving rise to new theoretical challenges. We also will show first results for some processes and several future applications.
