Electron identification in the Opera emulsions — •Frank Meisel for the OPERA collaboration — Universite de Neuchatel, Neuchatel, Suisse

The OPERA experiment was build to prove the phenomenon of neutrino oscillations. The oscillation of myon Neutrinos, originating from a neutrino beam created at CERN, to tau neutrinos can be measured, considered a five year run period and given expections of the current standard model parameters.

One of the main decays of the tau leptons, which are created by charged current interactions of the appearing tau neutrinos, is the decay into an electron. The electron can be identified in one of the approx 160k OPERA Bricks, the main target elements in the experiment.

Identifing electrons and classifing their properties, i.e. originating vertex, Energy ... are of imtportance for analyses.

This talk gives an overview of the work carried out in junction with the reconstruction of electrons and measuring their energy .
