The method is based upon the mean decay length of b-hadrons in top quark events and can be sensitive to new physics. It is an alternative method to the kinematic reconstruction of the mass shape to measure the top quark mass. The dominant uncertainties of the method are not correlated with those in other methods. A preliminary estimation of the sensitivity for the CMS experiment is shown. The result can be combined with other measurements to substantially reduce the overall uncertainty.
